Treyarch Outlines What Can Get You Banned in Black Ops 2
Treyarch has been kind enough to outline exactly what will force the ban hammer to swing your way in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, so there’s no excuse when it happens.
There are two levels of infringement, the first is a minor misdemeanor and will see you temporally suspended from the servers for between 48 hours and two weeks. The second level is an extreme offense, this is when a player has caused problems for other users or has organized a large group of commit offenses, pick up one of these and you will be permabanned.
The bannable offenses are exactly what you would expect from a Call of Duty title, ranging from modding/hacking the game to boosting/glitching. Every rule seems fair and the punishment fits the crime so I doubt many fans will complain about the list.
Definitions
Temporary bans can range from 48 hours to 2 weeks, depending on the severity of the infraction. Permanent bans are lasting and final.
A minor offense is one in which no quantifiable damage has been done to another user or the game community at large. An extreme offense is one in which a player has caused detriment to other users or has organized large groups of users to commit additional offenses.
Modding/Hacking
Any user who runs a modified version of game code or uses a modified game profile is subject to penalty.
- First offense: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
- Console users who modify their hardware or profile data will also be reported to console manufacturers. PC users on Steam will be reported to the Steam enforcement team.
Pirated Content
Any user who illegally acquires Call of Duty: Black Ops II content is subject to penalty.
- First offense: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
- Console users in possession of illegally acquired content will also be reported to console manufacturers. PC users on Steam will be reported to the Steam enforcement team.
Unsupported Peripheral Devices & Applications
Any user who utilizes an unsupported external hardware device or application to interact with the game is subject to penalty. Unsupported peripheral devices and applications include but are not limited to modded controllers, IP flooders and lag switches.
- Minor offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
- Extreme or repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
Boosting
Any user who colludes with another user to exploit the game for the purpose of gaining XP, prestige, game score, weapon level, or in-game unlock is subject to penalty.
- First offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
- Second offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, will have online split-screen privileges revoked, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
- Extreme or multiple repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
Glitching
Any user who abuses an exploit in game code or other established rule of play is subject to penalty. An example includes but is not limited to using a hole in the map geo to intentionally go outside of the map boundary.
Offensive Behavior
Any user who is found to use aggressive, offensive, derogatory or racially charged language is subject to penalty.
- First offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online.
- Second offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online and will have voice chat privileges in the game revoked.
- Extreme or repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
Offensive Emblems
Any user who creates an emblem with sexually gratuitous images, racially offensive material or foul language is subject to penalty.
- Minor offense: User will be temporarily banned from using the Emblem Editor, and all emblems will be reset to default.
- Extreme or repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from using the Emblem Editor, and all emblems will be reset to default.
Offensive Live Streams or Unauthorized Live Stream Content
Any user who is found to have offensive or unauthorized content in their live stream is subject to penalty. Offensive content includes but is not limited to foul language, racially charged language, and nudity. Unauthorized content includes but is not limited to unlicensed music, TV shows, movies and brand logos.
- Minor offense: User will be temporarily banned from using live streaming and may have camera streaming privileges in the game revoked.
- Extreme or repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from using live streaming.
- Extreme offenders will also be reported to the live streaming service provider and may have their account revoked by that service provider.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Prestige Mode Detailed
Treyarch has revamped and improved Prestige Mode in upcoming FPS Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2. The most eagerly awaited change: Prestige no longer resets your progress, so your unlocked weapons, completed challenges, and professional perks will remain, even after you've "Prestige'd."
There are a total of 55 levels in Black Ops 2 multiplayer, with 10 levels of Prestige. Prestige players earn a token every time they level up, tokens you can "spend" on either extra Create-A-Class slots (which can be upgraded up to five times,) or on unlocking a new weapon permanently.
In addition, Treyarch is adding the option to reset your stats back to zero, and go through the long climb up the mountain of bassassness again. I'm not sure why you'd want to make yourself into a noob, but it's possible. Just keep your little brothers and sisters and your troll friends away from that reset button.
For those with lofty goals, there will be a "top level" in prestige called Prestige Master, that is earned when you've unlocked all the content in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The few and proud will be rewarded with the ultimate badass Prestige Icon possible. Treyarch isn't going to reveal that icon until the release of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, so we'll all have to wait until November 13, 2012 to check out the patch that the hardest of the hardcore are sporting.
Black Ops 2 RELEASE Countdown Timer!
Black Ops 2: Killstreaks
Here is a list of all the killstreaks that will appear in Black Ops 2. They've all been ranked and ordered by the amount of points that you need in order to get them (yep, it's no longer just about kills anymore).
| Name | Points Needed |
|---|---|
| RCXD | 325 |
The RCXD is a small remote-controlled car that can be detonated by the player. The resulting explosion can be pretty powerful. | |
| UAV | 375 |
The UAV is a killstreak that plots the position of enemy players on your minimap. | |
| Hunter Killer | 400 |
The Hunter Killer is a new one. It's basically an unmanned airborne drone that seeks out an enemy player and attempts to kill/him. Think of it as an AI-controlled Predator Missile. | |
| Care Package | 450 |
The Care Package is returning. These are air-dropped packages that contain a random killstreak (and sometimes, ammo). | |
| Counter UAV | 475 |
The Counter UAV will disable the enemy team's minimap / radar for a set amount of time. Often used to counteract enemy UAVs. | |
| Guardian | 500 |
The Guardian Turret can be placed down on the ground and pointed towards enemy players. This turret will project microwaves at anyone in front of it, blinding them and impairing their movement. This was seen in the multiplayer reveal trailer. | |
| Hellstorm Missile | 525 |
The Hellstorm Missile is basically an air-to-surface cluster bomb that is dropped onto a general location. The missile will fall from the sky and then break apart into multiple cluster bombs, which then blanket the area in question with a lot of explosive power. | |
| Lightning Strike | 550 |
The Lightning Strike is kind of like a futuristic version of the Mortar team found in the previous Black Ops game. This killstreak allows you to pinpoint three locations on the map and have them bombed. | |
| Death Machine | 600 |
The Death Machine (nice name, eh?) is a large mini-gun similar to the one that featured in the previous Treyarch game. Can be pretty powerful; but you use it at the expense of your movement speed. | |
| Sentry Gun | 650 |
This has appeared in previous Call of Duty games. This is an AI-operated turret that automatically fires upon enemy players. The Sentry Gun will point in one direction and scan the scene for enemies. Can be destroyed pretty instantly if it's knifed, which means that you have to be careful about where you place it. | |
| War Machine | 700 |
The War Machine isn't just a grenade launcher. It's a SEMI AUTOMATIC grenade launcher that will help you relive the good old days of Ground War on MW2. | |
| Dragonfire | 725 |
The Dragonfire is a player-controlled killstreak that hovers in the air. An SMG/AR is attached to the bottom of it, which allows the player to fire upon enemy players. Kind of surprised to see this as a 725 scorestreak because it looks incredibly easy to take down. | |
| AGR | 800 |
The AGR is a bi-pedal robot that has guns / cannons attached to it. This thing will rip through other players like a hot knife through butter. This particular one is air-dropped to your location, so keep that in mind if you decide to select it. Although this can be remote controlled, there have been a number of people saying that it can also work on its own AI and search the map for enemies. | |
| Stealth Chopper | 850 |
This is basically an attack chopper that does not show up on the enemy's radar. This will automatically roam a section of the map and shoot at other players. | |
| Orbital VSAT | 900 |
The Orbital VSAT in Black Ops 2 works much like the Blackbird did. This will show the position of enemies on the map and it will also show you what direction they are headed in. Note that this cannot be shot down. | |
| Escort Drone | 1000 |
The Escort Drone is kind of like the AH-6 Overwatch. This is an AI-controlled drone that follows you around the map while trying to protect you. | |
| Warthog | 1025 |
The Warthog killstreak is a hovering jet aircraft that makes several swoops across the map while taking shots at enemy players. | |
| EMP Systems | 1050 |
An EMP doesn't hurt enemy players. Instead, it takes down all enemy killstreaks and equipment. It also disables the other team's minimap / radar. It's worth noting that an EMP will only work for a set amount of time, after which, the game will return to normal. | |
| Lodestar | 1150 |
The Lodestar can be compared to the Reaper. This allows you to guide surface to air missiles with a laser pointer. | |
| VTOL Warship | 1200 |
Haven't heard of much information about the VTOL Warship, only that you get to pilot a large warship (duh!!) and shoot the crap out of everybody. Maybe it's just a futuristic version of the Chopper Gunner? | |
| Canine Unit | 1275 |
The Canine / K9 Unit is a pack of vicious dogs that will run around the map for about a minute or so and hunt down enemy players. These can rack you up a lot of kills in quick succession. This has been a top-level killstreak in the last two Treyarch games. | |
| Swarm | 1400 |
We got to see the Swarm in action in the multiplayer reveal trailer. Basically, the Swarm is a bunch of Hunter Killer drones that will circle around in the sky and automatically attack enemy players on sight. My guess is that this is going to be extremely powerful (think of multiple Predator Missiles falling from the sky). | |
